COWBOY FESTIVAL – APRIL 22-25, 2010
AT: MELODY RANCH MOTION PICTURE STUDIOS
IT AIN’T COUNTRY – IT’S COWBOY!
The Cowboy Festival was held again this year at the famous Melody Ranch Motion Picture Studio. The Melody Ranch served as the setting for many western movies and television shows – including The Lone Ranger,Gunsmoke, and Hopalong Cassidy.
The Cowboy Festival celebrates authentic cowboy culture and music, which focuses on the lives of the cowboys, ranchers, vaqueros and the men and women who worked the land during 1800’s America.
“The best way to explain Cowboy culture is: in Cowboy Music you lose your horse or your life – in Country Music you lose your dog or your wife,” said Mike Fleming, Festival Director for the 2010 Cowboy Festival. “The Cowboy Festival features two days chock full of non-stop music, great food and countless activities designed to transport attendees back to true Old West.”
At the festival guests experienced trick ropers, blacksmiths and more on Main Street, they caught live performances by some of the most popular Cowboy musical acts and multicultural performers, and browsed more than 20 storefronts for authentic western gear at the Festival. Guests also also were able to chow down on delicious food, including dutch oven peach cobbler and chuck wagon cooking.
Kids had a blast at the Cowboy Festival with hands-on activities and a Buckaroo Bookshop to purchase books for all ages and attend author readings and signings. We saw kids that were able to learn a few rope tricks from cowboys who were there to show them all sorts of rope knots and tricks right in the middle of the cowboy movie sets.
There were costumes galore, guests seem to love to get involved in the action of the moment. We spoke to many who had gone to great efforts to create the perfect costume for this event. We are publishing the best costumes that we saw there on the main street of this event.
